You remember the most controversial takeover of last year, when an old-established British company fell into the hands of a vast US combine. Kraft has now revealed figures showing that things have gone pretty well since, thanks very much, and Irene Rosenfeld, the company’s gun-shy ceo, has come up with another brainwave. Having created America’s largest food company after stretching the UK takeover rules to the limit (they’ve been changed since) she now wants to break it up. Well, businesses can’t stand still, can they? Groceries will go into one basket, to called, er, Kraft. The chocies will go into another, whose name will, we’re told, be voted on by the shareholders.
